Medicinal Chemistry ::

This department utilizes highly advanced synthetic and organic technologies for the synthesis of intermediates, bulk pharmaceuticals up to commercial scale production. They also carry out activities such as design and synthesis of patentable New Chemical Entities - NCEs using the sophisticated Computer Aided Drug Design (CADD). Discovery Research is carried out in the therapeutic areas like cardiovascular, metabolic disorders, cerebro-vascular disorders etc.

Medicinal chemistry at Torrent Research Centre took-off as a small "Chemical Synthesis Group" in 1992 and emerged as an established department in 1994. The department took up Discovery Research in 1995 with proven skills of process development.

Custom Synthesis for Target Compounds :

Medicinal Chemistry synthesizes compounds which accurately meet the Research Centre's requirements, by utilizing a variety of highly advanced synthetic organic technologies it has cultivated in the speciality chemical field. It also meets the need of commercial-scale production by combining various support technologies and offering services that are fully satisfactory in terms of cost, delivery time and reliability.
Efficient synthetic methodologies of target molecules for custom synthesis are developed by studying synthetic pathways, evaluating process simulation, designing new patentable routes and realising the same routes at the laboratory.
