This department concerns itself with the development of conventional and novel dosage therapeutic forms, NDDS, formulations for toxicity studies, stability studies, and technology transfer to the production facility. All the activities are carried out as per Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices. The facilities exist both for:

The department provides the pharmaceutical support during various stages of New Drug Discovery Programmes of Torrent Research Centre.

The department formulates appropriate formulations for Pharmacokinetic, metabolism and pre-clinical safety evaluation studies to optimize potential for absorption and exposure of new chemical entities. In addition Formulation Development Department assists the discovery team in identifying those key properties that are required for the molecule to be delivered by various routes of administration. Once the new chemical entities enter Phase I / Phase II clinical trial stage, the department develops and supplies appropriate dosage forms for clinical trials. The department also develops and supplies formulations for various regulatory toxicity studies as per OECD GLP norms.

The department also provides formulation development support to Torrel Cosmetics.

Torrent's Novel Drug Delivery research is focused on the development of innovative new drug delivery technologies. By combining our development expertise with state of the art infrastructure, we are creating successful clinical products, both branded and generics, for the benefit of patients around the globe.
