What some people
use to commit suicide.
Butter.
|
Eating large amounts of
fatty or cholesterol rich foods like butter, meat
and eggs increases your risk of having a heart
attack or angina. Especially if you are women
over 35, a smoker, have diabetes, kidney trouble
or high blood pressure.
Prevention ::
Reduce intake of animal and saturated
(dairy) fats. Eat chicken and fish instead of
pork, beef and lamb. Remove fat from meat, and
grill meat rather than fry it. One egg gives you
almost a day's quota of cholesterol, so restrict
yourself to 3 eggs a week. Avoid cream and sweets.
Use margarine instead of butter. Eat more fruits
and vegetables. Use corn oil and sunflower oil
for cooking. Increase intake of foods rich in
vitamin E, C and beta carotene like whole grain
cereals, citrus fruits, carrots and fish oils.
Also, if you are overweight, it is important to
reduce. Regular exercise is also a must. Sometimes,
cholesterol lowering drugs may be prescribed.
If you have any further queries, do consult your
doctor.
