| Campylobacter.
It makes summer holidays shorter. |
When you're on vacation it
pays to be extra cautious about what you eat.
Incompletely cooked and contaminated food, particularly
raw milk, and salads and unboiled water, are infested
with bacteria. Campylobacter, Gram-ve organism
like E. Coli and Salmonellae and/ or E. Histolytica
are the widest known causes of Traveller's Diarrhoea.
It commonly affects the very young and the elderly.
Other causes of Diarrhoea ::
Viruses-Rotaviruses, adenoviruses, and enteroviruses.
Parasitic infections, Excessive alcohol. Coarse
or oily food. Drugs administered to reduce high
blood pressure.
Most outbreaks are self-limiting and do not need
specific treatment. A strict diet helps put the
stomach back in order quickly. Avoid oily food.
Drink plenty of fluids with salt; dehydration
is the greatest danger diarrhoea patients face.
In some case, antibiotics and anthielmenthics
help. But check with your doctor first.
