Sparkling white
teeth?
There's a chance you're suffering from Gingivitis. |
Gingivitis is a very common
dental ailment that affect virtually everyone
at one time or the other. It may be entirely painless,
which is why it is often overlooked.
Symptoms ::
Red swollen gums, bleeding while brushing or flossing,
loose teeth, persistent bad breath. The cause
can be infection due to anaerobic bacteria. If
left untreated it can develop into more serious
bone disease called Periodontitis which could
call for extraction of the entire set of teeth.
Tips to good dental hygiene ::
Include citrus fruits and raw vegetables in your
diet. Avoid snacking between meals. Cut down on
sweets and starchy food that are high in carbohydrates.
Brush twice a day and floss every night. It's best
to use a fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash; when
the gums recede fluoride safeguards the exposed
root surface from decay and is an ideal anti-cavity
agent. Visit your dentist for regular cleanings
and checkups.
