could save a high blood pressure from having a
heart attack. Diet and stress also play a critical
role in hypertension.
Symptoms ::
Not specially characteristic of high BP. Dizziness,
flushed face, headache, fatigue, nosebleeds, nervousness.
Complications include left ventricular failure,
coronary heart disease, retinal haemorrhages,
reduced blood supply to the brain leading to stroke
and kidney failure.
Preventives ::
Lose weight. Reduce salt and alcohol intake. Eat
potassium rich foods: bananas, tomatoes, potatoes,
oranges, leafy green vegetables. Practice relaxation
techniques like deep breathing and meditation.
High blood pressure is asymptomatic. Get your
BP checked regularly and act in accordance with
your doctor's advice.
