The cell culture laboratory is equipped with
the required instrumentation for virtually any
kind of cell-based experiments. It has two culture
rooms with up to P3 level bio-safety containment
facilities.
In addition, a separate room is available for
media preparation.
All culture rooms are maintained under relatively
negative pressure.
Cell Culture Laboratory equipments include

- Biosafety Cabinets: Maxisafe 2010, Maxisafe
2000 and MSC III (Heto Holten, Denmark) capable
of handling up to risk group IV organisms.
- CO2 Incubators (Forma Scientific, USA)
- Inverted Microscopes (Carl Zeiss, Germany)
Mammalian Cell Bioreactor (10Ltr.): Celligen
Plus (New Brunswick, USA)
Further, the cell culture area has world class
Microscope from Carl Zeiss viz. Axiophot II, with
powerful features that allow fluorescence microscopy,
digital documentation, image analysis, etc
The Molecular Biology Laboratory is a state-of-the-art
setup fully equipped with necessary instruments
required to conduct nucleic acid and protein work.
The major instrumentation setup includes

- DNA & Protein Electrophoresis & Blotting
Units
- Gel Documentation System (Bio-Rad)
- PCR Machines (M.J. Research)
- UV Crosslinker and Hybridisation oven (Pharmacia)
- Automated Gel Stainer (Pharmacia)
In addition, other equipments such as refrigerated
centrifuges of various capacities (Sigma and Eppendorf,
Germany), Vacuum dryer (Eppendorf), UV and visible
spectrophotometer are available.
Instrumentation for Drug Discovery :
- SpectraMax Plus, (Molecular
Devices, USA) is a Microplate Reader cum Spectrophotometer
that can be used for the detection of absorbance
at any wavelength in the UV and visible range
(190nm - 1000nm).
- Fmax (Molecular Devices,
USA) is an advanced Fluorimeter with a high
sensitivity and a facility for carrying out
kinetic studies.
- Microplate Lumiometer (Applied
Biosystems, USA)
